Ineke Perfume Chemical Bonding

How swell, how fitting that this unique shared fragrance begins with a fizzy note of citrus cocktail. In Spanish, that one person who completes you is called the "other half of the orange." Chemical Bonding aims for a "flirtatious alchemy" with its bubbly citrus, tea, and blackberry linked to a heart of dewy peony and finishing with a powdery soft drydown of vetiver, amber and musk.

Like all of Ineke's fragrances, Chemical Bonding is transparent and eminently wearable. In spite of its seeming simplicity, a careful analysis reveals that each of the notes works in service of an effortless allure. Blackberry gives a a sweet tart tinge to the bright citrus tea opening. Peony's somewhat winey tone underscores the cocktail effervescence of the citrus, while also showing a rosy aspect that complements the tea. The base of the scent is more prominent than in some of Ineke's other fragrances. Its still relatively light vetiver, amber, musk accord would make it versatile for both men and women, and the idea of a couple sharing this scent is particularly appealing. Ineke's admiration for the elegant and minimalist work of Jean-Claude Ellena comes to mind when I experience this fragrance. It recalls the winning clarity of Bvlgari's Green Tea and some of the scents that Ellena composed for Hermes. With the moody movement of an abstract color field painting, Chemical Bonding's bright orange washes into a cascade of dusky tones.

Good Morning, Cait!

You start my day beautifully, with your lyricism and ease of phrase.

This lady is clearly exceptional, and I love hearing about all these aspects of her work.

Thank you for making the time to share this with us-

Be well, and joyful, and seize the day-

This sounds like it has serious potential to be a new citrus HG for me. "Mi media naranja" - one of my fav phrases. I wish Parera or some other Spanish line had used that for a scent name.

Hi Cait!
I just wanted to let you know that I did recieve my bottle of After my Own Heart and I LOVE it!I'm pretty easy to please when it comes to lilacs and I'm so happy about finding it! I had also purchased the sampler pack and my husband really liked the men's fragrance in this line-but I could easily see myself wearing this too!I'll be buying this for him at Christmas! I also have to add that everything including the little booklet was done so nicely.I think this whole line has been done so elegantly and at a reasonable price point.

Dear Chaya,
I am glad you enjoyed this piece. I like Ineke's idea of what she aims for in creation of scent as much as the juice itself.

Dear Elle,
It is a unique citrus because of its fuzzy fizziness. Well, I guess we're spawning perfume name ideas all over the place. They'll credit us, I'm sure ...

Dear Christina,
I am so glad you liked After My Own Heart. Are you always a lilac fan? How do you compare this one to other lilacs? I like Derring-Do, too. I think it's very wearable for a woman.

Dear March,
They've got to be there soon. You are on the other coast though so just a few more days, I bet.
